Summer in Salt Lake changes the whole mood of the area. Once the weather warms up, people head outside fast. Parks get busier, patios stay packed late into the evening, and weekends fill up with local events. When I’m out showing homes during the summer, my clients and I always end up talking about the fun events going on around Salt Lake.
These are the summer events and festivals in Salt Lake that I genuinely look forward to every year. They’re easy to work into your weekend, fun without feeling overhyped, and a big part of what makes living in Salt Lake enjoyable during the summer months.
WestFest
When: June 17-20, 2026
WestFest is one of the biggest community events in West Valley City every summer. The festival brings together carnival rides, live entertainment, food vendors, local performers, and one of the largest fireworks shows in the valley. It has a busy, high-energy feel without becoming overwhelming.
The parade and evening fireworks are usually the biggest draws, but a lot of locals also show up for the food booths and live entertainment throughout the weekend. Families tend to spend most of the day moving between the carnival, community events, and vendor areas.
Taylorsville Dayzz
When: June 25-27, 2026
Taylorsville Dayzz has become one of those annual summer traditions that people around Salt Lake County grow up attending. The event mixes classic community festival activities like carnival rides and parades with concerts, fireworks, and plenty of family-friendly events spread across several days.
The nightly entertainment lineup is usually a big reason people come out, especially the tribute bands and live music performances. The petting zoo and food booths stay busy most of the day, while the fireworks bring in larger crowds at night.
Sandy City Balloon Festival & Balloon Glow
When: August 7-8, 2026
The Sandy City Balloon Festival is one of the more unique summer events in Salt Lake County, especially if you can handle an early morning wake-up call. Watching the balloons launch at sunrise is easily the highlight, and the mountain backdrop makes the whole event feel even bigger in person.
The Balloon Glow on Saturday night is what keeps many locals coming back every year. Between the illuminated balloons, drone show, dance party, inflatables, and free activities, it turns into a really fun evening event for families and groups.
Utah Days of ‘47 Rodeo
When: July 21-25, 2026
The Utah Days of ‘47 Rodeo is one of the longest-running summer traditions in Utah, and you can feel that history once you get there. The rodeo events pull huge crowds every year, but the atmosphere outside the arena is a big part of the experience too, with food trucks, live music, vendors, and family activities happening throughout the evening.
The rodeo itself is obviously the main attraction, especially once the arena fills up before sunset. A lot of locals also make time for the drone and fireworks show afterward since it turns into a full-night event.
Draper Days
When: July 10-18, 2026
Draper Days is one of the busiest community festivals in the southern part of Salt Lake County every summer. The city packs a full week with events, including concerts, movie nights, sports tournaments, races, carnival rides, and one of the largest fireworks shows in the area.
The parade and rodeo are usually the headline events, but many locals spend most of their time around the city park, where the food vendors, live music, and community activities happen throughout the week. Families especially like the Family Fun Day and outdoor movie nights.
Utah Blues Festival
When: June 12-13, 2026
The Utah Blues Festival brings a different pace compared to the larger city festivals around Salt Lake County. Held downtown, the event focuses heavily on live music, local vendors, food trucks, and a more laid-back crowd that usually settles in for most of the day.
The live performances are easily the main reason people go, especially since the festival brings in respected blues artists from around the country. The free workshops and local vendor booths also make it feel more interactive than a standard concert weekend.
Make the Most of Summer in Salt Lake
Once the weather improves, the area gets noticeably more active, and these festivals become a big part of everyday life around town. They’re a good excuse to explore different neighborhoods, try local food spots, and spend more time outside before fall shows up again.
